We should allow winterbash. It's a fun little thing that lasts for about 2 months, which users can opt out of if they don't want to take part in it, so there's no reason not to do it. Secondly, I'd like to suggest banning any users who hate hats (That's a bannable offense, right?)

Here is a more rounded, evenly scaled, png version.

I'm in full support of including the photo widget here on meta, as long as screenshot-of-the-week continues to be consistent for the foreseeable future. If screenshot of the week becomes inconsistent, intermittent, or people stop participating, I'd propose that the widget eventually be removed.

I'm in favor of this. If we clean up without addressing the underlying source of these tags then Arqade members & moderators will have to continually retag these posts. It'd be a lot easier to blacklist the Minecraft tag now while there are only one or two currently than allow their numbers to slowly creep back up.

Robotnik As a community, we have our fair share of divisive issues, often hashed out at length in meta and on chat, usually with strong arguments either way. As a moderator, what do you see as your role during these community disagreements? In general, our role as moderators would be to mediate these discussions to the best of our ability and stop ...

This is now at 35 - as of 8-8-2017, tags can be up to 35 characters long everywhere. Big thanks to everyone who jumped in here to help make this site a test subject for this change - if anything breaks now, I'll blame you!

I don't care about hats. But if there is one SE site that should have hats, it's this one.

Some late entries: A 'standard' ad, in white and black: (The explosion graphic can be worked into the black version, as well) For Movies.SE: (Not sure if these are recognizable. I have a version where Bill Murray's face is more pronounced.) For StackOverflow: (I know, humour is not my strong suit.)

To demonstrate this, I inspected the source to get the hex codes for the colors. The visited link is #114475, and the plain text is #3b4045. If you run a contrast on these two colors you get a contrast difference of 1.05:1, which would fail WCAG 2.0 AA and AAA requirements if they were foreground and background colors for both normal and large text. WCAG 2.0 ...

Link it in a comment, and it'll show up in the sidebar.

Heck yeah. Anything cool like this that could drive participation on Arqade should be utilized. It's small enough that people who don't care won't be bothered, but big enough that it's noticeable and will draw attention.

Wipqozn As a community, we have our fair share of divisive issues, often hashed out at length in meta and on chat, usually with strong arguments either way. As a moderator, what do you see as your role during these community disagreements? In this situation (and any situation, really) I'd have two roles: Community Member and Site Moderator. As a ...

status-completed This close reason is now active. We reviewed the stats in the following post, with majority community support for leaving the close reason in place: Modded Minecraft Close Reason - Let's Review Here's a slightly more fleshed out close reason that also adds a link to the faq question: How do I ask a good Minecraft Bug/Crash question? for ...

I propose that Falskaar-related questions be tagged with both skyrim and skyrim-falskaar, similar to the tagging scheme of Skyrim DLC questions. Falskaar is a DLC-level content mod, and one of the biggest, if not, the biggest new lands mod for Skyrim. falskaar should then be made a synonym of skyrim-falskaar.

It isn't an area of our expertise, and it doesn't usefully categorise anything. The exception is that it seems to categorise external USB storage (sticks, drives), but that's not a useful category of expertise here – if it's actually a meaningful tag on a question, that's probably a sign that the question belongs on SuperUser or elsewhere. usb doesn't ...

starcraft-2 should continue to be used for all Starcraft 2 multiplayer questions. Now that the expansion is out it's what the majority of folks are playing, and all tournaments will be Legacy of the Void - you're not going to see vanilla or HOTS SC2 tournaments anymore. More importantly, though, the new SC2 meta is the Legacy of the Void meta. If someone is ...

No. One of the design goals of Stack Exchange is to put as little friction as possible in the answering process. Requiring people to ask questions before they can answer them is counterintuitive, counterproductive and goes against most network principles.

I support this proposal. It would also prevent confusion with the (pseudo-)sequals AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! for the Awesome and AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! (Force = Mass x Acceleration)

I already had that in mind when planning the tag cleanup, apparently I just forgot to actually write it down. So: Yes! Also, minecraft-console should be blacklisted for the same reason. I just removed the tag from the one question that had the minecraft tag. It was a commands question, so I just replaced it with minecraft-commands and then voted to close ...

I wouldn't trust Wikipedia when common sense is at stake. It should be also noted that competitive-gaming tag has 3 questions and esports has only 1. It's not a good enough number to judge which is more popular among users, though. When you're not familiar with terminology, you're going to try and describe something with words understandable by largest ...

boi-afterbirth works fine and fits with established conventions of things like ac-revelations which we have for Assassin's Creed: Revelations, which also exceeds the character limit.

Actioned These tags were raised as examples and have now been changed as a result of this meta post. If you want a particular tag lengthened, please raise it as a separate meta question so the community can vote on it. rnc-qforce -> ratchet-and-clank-q-force (25) jk2-jedi-outcast -> jedi-knight-2-jedi-outcast (26) monster-hunter-gen -> monster-...

The blacklist for ^minecraft(-console)?$ is now in place. Since there is no way to dynamically specify a wildcard (so that we could pull a dynamic list of all existing examples of minecraft-* tags to show), we went with this as a the error message: The Minecraft tag is no longer in use. Please use a version-specific tag instead, such as: minecraft-java-...

We are currently in the process of ironing out a fourth close reason. The close reasons were clunky before, with too much being put into each one. The fourth one will make that better, but until that is finished, we don't have a close reason for ITG.

Yes, that is an option. Select "Edit" beside Favorite Tags, then Set Tag Preferences (or simply go to https://gaming.stackexchange.com/users/preferences/current). Go down to Ignored Tags and select the "Hide questions in your ignored tags" radio button.

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to outright change the tag to metal-gear-online-3 from what has come to be known as the more common title: mgs-5-online. However, I would definitely see benefit to adding a synonym tag. That way, we get the benefits of the more common name, combined with the official name of the game.

This is live now: Thanks so much to the SE team!

We did some testing and it appears that the issue was on comment limits. Election nominations only show up to 15 comments before expansion. However! There's no button to expand comments! Posting a new comment auto-expands which is why people could see things only when commenting. As a bandaid, we've increased the comment limit to 40 for now, but we're ...
