Reputation is a measure of how much the community trusts you. The more reputation you have, the more privileges you unlock, the more you can interact with the site.
Reputation is awarded as:
- +5 rep for upvotes on a question you asked
- +10 rep for upvotes on an answer you gave
- +2 rep upon approval of a Suggested Edit you've made (up to a maximum of 1000 rep or 500 approved edits).
Reputation is taken away when:
- Someone downvotes your post
- You start a bounty.
Privileges can also be revoked if your reputation score drops below the threshold required to earn that privilege, including from starting bounties.
Usage
This tag should be used for questions about how reputation works, including queries about specific reputation gains/losses which don't add up.
