As was mentioned in @GnomeSlice's answer in Game On!, him and I will organizing a Frozen Synapse tournament instead of including it as part of our regular game on schedule.
Our reasoning for this is that since Frozen Synapse is (currently) 1v1 only we were concerned it wouldn't lend itself well to a regular Game On! session, and decided a tournament would be the only way to make it work. Considering how long running a tournament can take, and the unique turn-based nature of how Frozen Synapse works we thought running it separate from Game on! would be the best method. This way there are no concerns about someone not being able to attend the whole tournament due to school, work, social life, et cetera. Depending on how this goes, we could do something similar for games like Neptunes Pride.
If there are any objections to @GnomeSlice and I removing Frozen Synapse from the Game on! schedule and switching to this method please say so. We can easily switch back if we receive too much negative feedback from the community, or adjust this method to make it work more in line with what the community wants.
Now on to details!
When: The tournament will start on Thursday, October 27th.
Who will I be playing?: @GnomeSlice will make up the bracket of the matches and post it here sometime on October 27th (UTC time).
To Sign up: To sign up just post an answer in the meta post with your Frozen Synapse username and that you wish to attend the tournament. The cut off day for sign ups is Tuesday, October 25th. Please be aware that usernames are case-sensitive.
Game Modes: The game modes will be determined by @Gnomeslice and I. All game modes are eligible for inclusion. The game mode being played for each match will be announced along with the bracket.
Move Time Limit: Although there will be no limit on how long a game can take, we currently are aiming on a move time limit of 3 days. In other words you would have 3 days (or 72 hours) to make a move. If you don't make your move you forfeit the match.
- The tournament will be Double Elimination.
- The results of each match will be determined by the best two out of three games.
Chat: We will be using this this chat room throughout the tournament as one of our main forms of communications.
Record Your Games: Since Frozen Synapse has a built in feature to upload all matches to youtube, we request that you upload your matches to Youtube when you finish them. This way the matches can be shared amongst the community.
More details will be provided closer to the starting date.
